The Hawaiian outrigger canoe is an important part of Polynesian history. This past week paddlers from around the island of Kauai gathered for the 12th annual Paddle Fest. Launching from Kalapaki Bay to Poipu Beach, traditional 6 man canoes and single man canoes raced to honor this history.
Joe & Lee Sylvester have lived on Kauai for thirty years. Joe is a former sugarcane agronomist who worked at Kekaha Sugar and Lee owns a successful real estate company in the town of Kalaheo. They have owned Turtle Cove Suites for 21 years.
